The idea becomes Nuteenourish
Alex Lu developed the idea and co-founded Nuteenourish with Erik Lu, creating a youth-led organization focused on understandable, practical nutrition education.
Founded in 2023, Nuteenourish makes evidence-informed nutrition education useful across different foods, cultures, and budgets.
Conversations about food can be full of conflicting advice: whether rice or protein is “healthy,” whether a familiar cultural dish should be avoided, or whether a claim about calories is actually supported by science. Too often, opinions about nutrition reflect habits and assumptions rather than clear evidence.
In 2023, Alex Lu began exploring these questions with a goal that soon went beyond finding the right answer. Together with co-founder Erik Lu, he established Nuteenourish to help children and families make sense of nutrition information and apply it without dismissing the foods they already know and enjoy.
Teaching revealed a central lesson: being scientifically correct is not enough if the advice ignores someone’s budget, food traditions, or daily routine. Nuteenourish shifted toward listening first and building nutrition education around realistic decisions.
Sometimes that means choosing a leaner cut of meat when available, using a little less cooking oil, adjusting portions, or finding ways to balance familiar meals without cutting out entire food groups. The goal is not to label one cuisine as better than another. It is to give young people the knowledge and confidence to make informed choices that fit their lives.

Nuteenourish partnered with Princeton Learning Experience (PLE) to connect its educational mission with more young learners.
Teaching through the PLE relationship continued through summer 2025, helping the team learn how to adapt lessons to students’ actual needs.
Nuteenourish has partnered with WACA from 2024 to the present and has held nutrition camps since 2025. Alex spoke at WACA-partnered events, staffed community outreach booths, and was named Nutrition Sector Head for Young WACA.
The organization continued its camps in 2026, including an eight-hour youth nutrition camp at Greenburgh Public Library on August 27–28. Work with community partners continues to widen access to nutrition learning.
Across original lessons, hands-on camps, WACA speaking opportunities, and booths at community events, Nuteenourish has worked to bring understandable nutrition information to more people. Its reported results include teaching nutrition to 100+ children, raising $500 for hunger initiatives, and participating in outreach at events with a combined reach of 10K+ people. Community-event reach is not the same as direct nutrition instruction.
This work has involved partnerships and collaborations with PLE, WACA, SPEAK, and Greenburgh Public Library, with a focus on meeting young people where they already learn and gather.
Nuteenourish is developing a practical nutrition curriculum with the goal of working with Alex’s school to bring it into health education for future students. The proposed curriculum is still being developed; it has not yet been adopted by the school.
The team is also working with NY Health to explore funding and improve outreach, and with the Youth Medical Association to expand community engagement. These efforts are ongoing, not announced funding awards or completed programs.
The mission remains straightforward: make trustworthy nutrition education accessible, culturally respectful, affordable to put into practice, and sustainable beyond any one group of volunteers.
